Recruiting Youth Ages 15-17 to Volunteer in the Park

WEST GLACIER, MT –Montana students, ages 15-17, are encouraged to apply for the Glacier Youth Corps program volunteering in Glacier National Park this summer. The program provides a hands-on conservation opportunity with duties such as fencing, trail maintenance, habitat restoration and revegetation, while living and learning in the park.

The program consists of two, four-week sessions, June 13 to July 08, and July 18 to August 12. Youth are encouraged to apply for one four-week session. Participants will spend the majority of their time camping in the field.

Glacier National Park Superintendent Jeff Mow said, "This is a fun opportunity to spend time outdoors, in a spectacular setting, while making a contribution to Glacier National Park."This experience may help students build their resumes for college or a career while demonstrating a commitment to community service. Participants will earn a $200 service award from Montana Conservation Corps for each four-week session.

Glacier Youth Corps is a partnership of the Glacier National Park Conservancy, Montana Conservation Corps and the National Park Service. This opportunity is supported through funding from the Glacier National Park Conservancy. The Glacier National Park Conservancy continues to accept donations to sustain the program for future years.

Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled, but students are encouraged to apply early. Visit the Montana Conservation Corps website at http://mtcorps.org/ to apply to become an expedition member of the Glacier Youth Corps.
