WEST GLACIER, MONT. - Entrance fees to Glacier National Park and the nearly 400 National Park Sites across the country will be waived Saturday, June 9 in celebration of National Get Outdoors Day.

National Get Outdoors Day began in 2008, encouraging visitors to connect with their public lands and reconnect young people with nature. Families are encouraged to take advantage of the free entrance to get outside and explore the natural beauty of the park. "Outdoor physical activity is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle and Glacier National Park is a great place to get out and enjoy nature," said Glacier National Park Superintendent Chas Cartwright.

The park will waive its $25 entrance fee on four more days in 2012 - September 29 (National Public Lands Day) and November 10 to 12 (Veterans Day Weekend).

An annual Glacier National Park pass for unlimited access to the park for one year from time of purchase of the pass is available for $35. If you are planning a trip that includes multiple national parks, you might consider the $80 annual pass that provides entrance to all national parks, national wildlife refuges, national forests, and many other Federal lands - more than 2,000 in all. This America the Beautiful National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass is offered free to all active duty military members and their dependents. The passes may be obtained from a staffed park entrance station or the park headquarters building, or for more information call 406-888-7800.

Park visitors are highly encouraged to plan ahead and visit the park's website at https://www.nps.gov/glac/index.htm.for for updated road and weather conditions, and available activities. Visitors may also visit the park's Facebook page to stay connected with the park.
