COLONIAL BEACH, Va. — Get ready to celebrate and explore the great outdoors this spring! Staff at George Washington Birthplace National Monument invite you to enjoy special activities and demonstrations during National Park Week on the weekends of April 19-20 and April 26-27.Kick off National Park Week on April 19th with National Junior Ranger Day and the launch of the Young Washington’s Survey Map Adventure! Grab a compass and map to find George’s survey points around the park and earn a special park pin. Rangers are also ready to swear in new Junior Rangers and hand out fun buttons for completed activity books. The day concludes with a guided Junior Ranger hike at 3:30 p.m. – don’t miss it!
On April 26th, join us for the third annual Colonial Games Tournament from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Compete with friends and family in games George Washington would have known as a child. Plus, enjoy fun water coloring activities and textile weaving demonstrations hosted by park staff and volunteers.
Don’t forget to stop by the Colonial Revival Kitchen on April 20 and 26 for colorful spring-themed cooking demonstrations throughout the day.
