The National Park Service and the Friends of Fort Vancouver National Historic Site will present Juneko Martinson in a "Meet the Artist" program on Saturday, September 15, from 2:30 pm to 4 pm at the Fort Vancouver Visitor Center. Ms. Martinson is a master of fiber art with a special talent for creating wildlife and domestic animals through her art. Fiber art has become a popular contemporary craft that reflects historical methods combined with modern creativity. The "Meet the Artist" program will include a presentation by the artist on fiber preparation, raising animals, personal stories, and how everyone can become creative through fiber art. Ms. Martinson and her husband raise a variety of animals on a small farm in Brush Prairie, Washington. Her observations of wildlife and domestic animals are reflected in her artwork.
Ms. Martinson believes "anyone can do it," and the free program on September 15 also serves as an introduction for the workshop series offered by Ms. Martinson for fall and winter at the Visitor Center.
