Please join us on July 2, 3 & 4 for a weekend July Fourth celebration at the fort.    

For soldiers and civilians at remote frontier posts celebrating our nation’s birthday was a yearly highlight. Being far from home made the holiday especially poignant.

To celebrate this year’s Fourth of July Fort Larned is presenting special programs all weekend starting on Saturday, July 2^nd through Monday July 4^th. Living history demonstrations and presentations will be ongoing throughout each day, but there will also be special scheduled programs each day.

The weekend’s schedule of events include the following:

Saturday10:00 am – Blacksmith Demonstration
11:00 am – Small Arms & Howitzer Firing Demonstration
1:00 pm – Fort Larned Fitness: Bayonet Drill Demonstration
2:00 pm – Small Arms & Howitzer Firing Demonstration
4:30 pm – Retreat: Traditional Army Flag Lowering Ceremony

Sunday
10:00 am – Blacksmith Demonstration
11:00 am – Small Arms & Howitzer Firing Demonstration
1:00 pm – Life on Officers’ Row
2:00 pm – Small Arms & Howitzer Firing Demonstration
4:30 pm – Retreat: Traditional Army Flag Lowering Ceremony

Monday
10:00 am – Blacksmith Demonstration
11:00 am – Small Arms & Howitzer Firing Demonstration
12:00 pm – Traditional Salute Ceremony to the Flag
1:00 pm – Infantry Weapons of the Past: Small Arms from the Revolutionary War to Fort Larned (1775 – 1878)
2:00 pm – Small Arms & Howitzer Firing Demonstration
4:30 pm – Retreat: Traditional Army Flag Lowering Ceremony
