Everglades National Park reopens after Hurricane Isaias, Dry Tortugas remains open

HOMESTEAD, Fla. - On Sunday, Aug. 2, Everglades National Park will reopen after the passage of Hurricane Isaias at the following times and locations:

• Gulf Coast in Everglades City at 8 a.m. Tours will resume on Monday.

• Shark Valley at 8:30 a.m.

• East Everglades, accessible by SW 168^th St., from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m

• Homestead entrance at 6 a.m., pending post-storm safety assessment of the main park road. Flamingo Marina Store and services, including gas for vehicles and boats, will remain closed until Aug. 8.

Concession tours and services will resume, but visitors should check with each company regarding the availability of tours, services and rentals at each location.

Wilderness (backcountry) campsites are open. Self-registration permits are available outside of the Flamingo and Gulf Coast Visitor Centers.

Marine waters continue to be open.

Dry Tortugas National Park remains open, including the Garden Key campground. Ferry and seaplane tours will continue taking visitors to the islands as weather permits.

“Alerts” on the parks’ websites show current status. The NPS Hurricane and Severe Weather Response has updates for all National Park Service sites impacted by weather events.
