Four legged-friends and their humans are always welcome to explore the grounds that Ike and Mamie called home, with a few considerations.

Owners are responsible for their pet's care and conduct while visiting the site. Pets must be leashed at all times, on a leash no longer than six feet. Walking on designated walkways and paths is encouraged, but caution should always be exercised if walking along roadways, or traffic routes. Exposure to new people and places can be overwhelming or scary for some pets, so be sure to give your furry friends plenty of space, and always ask before approaching another pet.

For the safety and enjoyment of pets, owners and fellow visitors, we request that pet owners comply with the following rules when visiting Eisenhower National Historic Site:

  • Pets must be on leash and under control at all times when outside their owner's vehicle. Pets should never be unattended, left in hot vehicles, or tied-up. Law enforcement will be notified of any unattended pets.
  • Pets are permitted to explore all outdoor areas of the park that are open to the public. Pets are not allowed inside any public use buildings, or structures. Only service animals are permitted inside buildings with their owners or trainers.
  • Owners are responsible for removing any pet excrement left by their animals, and packing it out, or properly disposing of it in one of the outdoor trash cans located on site.
  • Respect park wildlife. This includes squirrels, rabbits, deer, and our resident herd of Black Angus cattle. Cattle should not be approached or spooked, and entering their pastures is prohibited at all times.
  • The site is open from sunrise to sunset, which means that hours change with the season. Please be mindful of these seasonal shifts in hours, and explore the park within hours of operation.
  • There are parasites in the park that both you and your pet should avoid, including wildlife and insects. Please check your pet for visible parasites immediately after your visit.

  • Occasionally, access to the site will be impacted with inclement weather. Alerts and notifications of closures or delays will be posted on the park website, and social media accounts. Even if the park remains open, winters can bring low temperatures and high winds to the site and summers are usually quite humid, with high UV and heat indexes so please make sure that furry friends, and human companions are properly prepared for the elements year round. We want your visit to be an enjoyable one, and we thank you in advance for your compliance with park rules and regulations.
