Environmental Education Camp

Join us for three days of outdoor fun and learning at Eisenhower National Historic Site. This Environmental Education Camp will be held June 23, 24 and 25 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day and is sponsored by the National Park Service and the Gettysburg Recreation Department.

Each morning will be filled with discovery of the outdoors as participants examine chemical and biological properties of soil, test the health of a stream by looking for, identifying and counting invertebrates, look for and identify wildlife with binoculars and walk in the woods to study the trees. Interactive games, experiments, using an Enviroscape model and discussions about threatened species at the Eisenhower site are all part of the experience. On the last morning participants will build a bird house to take home.

Youth entering grades 5 through 8 are welcome to attend. Participants need to bring a bagged snack and drink each morning. The fee for the camp is $25.00 and checks should be made payable to The Borough of Gettysburg. For more information or to register, contact the Gettysburg Recreation Department at 717-334-2028.
