Audio Guides and Tours

This is the menu of all currently available audio guides and tours available at the Thomas Edison National Historical Park. Some of the tours may also be available on the official National Park Service app on smartphones and tablets, under the heading "Self-Guided Tours". Please be respectful of other guests in the park while using them and use headphones whenever possible to reduce excess noise.

 

 

Grounds Tours

Glenmont Grounds audio tour

(Also available on the NPS App and Guide-by-cell)

This walking tour takes visitors around the grounds of Glenmont, Edison's estate, showcasing the various buildings and the home itself, as well as the family's use of the estate over the years.

Laboratory Grounds tour

(currently available only on the NPS App and via Guide-by-cell)

This tour of the Laboratory explains each of the lab's buildings and its use by Edison and the company. Explore stories about people that worked at the laboratory as you stroll through the grounds.

Laboratory Tours

The following tours were developed in the early 2000s, and consist of two sets of stops inside of the Main Laboratory (Building 5) and the courtyard of the laboratory. The standard main tour guides guests through the laboratory room by room, and the in-depth tour stops go into further detail about certain inventions, rooms, and Edison himself. The family tour, only available in English, has a more lighthearted approach, and is delivered by one of Mr. Edison's laboratory assisstants, Frankie. All of the tours have transcripts available.
