BUSHKILL, PA- Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area announced today that sites that were closed for the winter will officially re-open on Tuesday, April 15, though some were opened earlier due to favorable conditions. Expanded amenity fees will go into effect Tuesday, April 15 at their 2024 rates. NPS has proposed changes to the park’s fee program, which may go into effect later in the season if approved.
Winter Closures Lifted
The following areas that were closed for the winter will officially re-open for the 2025 season:
- River access points and boat launches
- The dirt section of Old Mine Road near Van Campen Inn
- Mountain Road in Walpack, NJ will be open to vehicles between the Walpack Cemetery and the Haneys Mill Bridge. Mountain Road is closed to vehicles beyond the bridge and from the south end at Haneys Mill due to the closure for repairs on the state-owned section of the road. The bridge on Main Street in Walpack, between Walpack Center and Mountain Road, remains closed due to structural damage.
- Crater Lake, including Skyline Drive and the upper section of Blue Mountain Lakes Road, will re-open to vehicles.
- Access roads to Dingmans Falls (open daily during daylight hours). Dingmans Falls Road will close for the summer on May 6th due to a bridge replacement project. Please see the park website for more details on this and other projects happening this year.
- George W. Childs Park parking area and trail will re-open for daytime use.
- NOTE: Old Mine Road near Van Campens Glen Trail may have delays starting mid-May due to a bridge repair project over the Van Campen Brook. The road will be one-lane and may have intermittent closures during construction.
- Watergate Natural Area will reopen Memorial Day Weekend
- Adams Creek Area, including the creek and drainage, from the Sproul Road and Long Meadow Road Parking Areas downstream to US Route 209.
- White Pines McDade Trail parking area
- Raymondskill Creek drainage from the base of the lower falls, including the pool area, downstream to the confluence of the Delaware River, including the Schanno House (former) parking area and grounds on the west side of US Route 209 at Raymondskill Creek. This closure does not include the McDade Recreational Trail or the Raymondskill Falls Trail.
