Contact: Dorene Ruffing, Acting Supervisory Park Ranger, (570) 426-2452 Superintendent John J. Donahue is pleased to announce an Open House at the Zimmermann Farm located within the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area on Saturday, June 18 from 10 am to 2 pm. The free public event will showcase the life, work, and beautifully restored home of one of America’s greatest jewelry and metalworking artists. Park rangers and volunteers from the Friends of Marie Zimmerman will provide a glimpse into the life of a great American artist. “We’re pleased to be able to work with our partners to offer this opportunity for visitors to tour her home and the grounds that served as a place of inspiration and fueled the fire of creativity that ultimately led an anything- but- average woman of the early 20th century to become one of the nation’s most revered jewelry and metal working artists,” said Donahue. With works in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburg, the legacy of Marie Zimmermann will continue to live on in American art history.
The Zimmermann Farm is located on the PA side of the park on Zimmermann Farm Road near mile marker 15 on US Route 209. For more information visit Friends of Marie Zimmermann online.
