BUSHKILL, PA: Superintendent John J. Donahue announced today that the Friends of Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area will again sponsor the park's annual lecture series. All lectures will be held at Bushkill Meeting Center on Route 209 and will begin at 7 p.m.   There is no charge to attend and they are open to the public. "We appreciate all that our Friends group does to help the park offer top quality programs for our visitors," said Donahue. "We couldn't do this without them." 

Programs offered during August, September, and October include: 

August 17: United States Forest Service (USFS) employee Kenneth "Andy" Conrad will present "A History of Grey Towers and the Pinchot Family." Grey Towers National Historic Site in Milford, Pennsylvania, celebrates their 50th anniversary this year.  

September 14: "Photographing History" will be presented by Pocono Environmental Education Center's Director of Education Allison Owczarczak. Owczarczak specializes in photographing historic structures and will share some of her techniques and favorite photos of favorite places.  

October 12: Environmental consultant and naturalist Don Baylor will present "The Poconos- Cradle of American Trout Fishing.This program explores the role of the Poconos in the history of American trout fishing and the development of American fly fishing techniques. Baylor discusses notable anglers, destinations, and literature important to the development of the American trout fishing tradition in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. 

The Friends of Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area is a not-for-profit park partner whose mission is to foster and support the historical, scientific, educational, interpretive, recreational, and natural resource management activities of the park. The support takes the form of donated funds and materials and voluntary services.
