Prescribed Burn on Cumberland Island National Seashore will have limited effects on island operations April 19 - 22, 2024Cumberland Island National Seashore Fire Management is planning to implement a prescribed burn near Stafford Beach Campground on April 19, 2024. The prescribed burn is planned to be 60 acres located West of Stafford Beach Campground and South of Stafford Field. Stafford Beach Campground will be closed starting the night on April 18th until conditions are deemed safe for public to access the area, potentially April 20 -22 being reopened.
The main road and Stafford beach access will remain open, however there may be delays due to brief closures for public safety.
Plum pile is planned to be burned April 20th, 2024. No closures are planned for this burn. All of these are weather permitting and may have some smoke impacts to the public during and after the burn.
