St. Marys (GA) Cumberland Island National Seashore is celebrating Earth Day and National Park Week on Friday, April 22, 2022, with a volunteer event. We will be installing a butterfly and pollinator garden at the Cumberland Island Museum at 129 Osborne Street in Saint Marys, Georgia from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Anyone interested in helping may join staff during this time. Be prepared to get dirty as we help nature grow. If you have questions, please contact Volunteer Coordinator Cindy Brewer at e-mail us or (912) 882-4336 ext 228.

Earth Day is a global celebration encouraging education and stewardship of the planet's natural resources. Whether in a backyard, neighborhood green space, or a magnificent national park, the National Park Service provides opportunities for everyone to discover and enjoy the physical and psychological benefits that come with spending time outdoors. Share your Earth Day experiences and favorite memories with parks using #EarthDay and #NationalParkWeek

Every April, during the presidentially proclaimed National Park Week, we join with the National Park Foundation, the official charity of America's national parks, to celebrate America's treasures. National Park Week is a time to explore amazing places, discover stories of history and culture, help out, and find your park. Celebrate National Park Week 2022 with us April 16 to 24! Parks across the country will host a variety of special programs, events, and digital experiences. Entrance fees are waived on April 16 to kick off National Park Week and encourage everyone to enjoy their national parks.

“National Park Week is an opportunity to celebrate and experience the parks that belong to all Americans. National Parks have stories and places that touch everyone’s heart. It is our job as citizens to care for these places and to ensure our grandchildren’s grandchildren can experience them as we do today,” said Gary Ingram, Superintendent of Cumberland Island National Seashore and Fort Frederica National Monument.
