The National Reserve is open 365 days a year, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Many roads are not maintained during the winter and may become impassable from late November through May. For current conditions visitors are encouraged to check with the Visitor Center or watch for alerts on our website and social media. During summer the Visitor Center is open every day 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. During fall/winter the Visitor Center is open 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Tuesday-Saturday, closed Sundays, Mondays, and holidays.

Fall/Winter season is from the end of October to mid-April. The Visitor Center is open 8:00am-4:30pm Tuesday through Saturday, closed Sundays, Mondays, and holidays.
The Visitor Center for City of Rocks National Reserve and Castle Rocks State Park is located just outside the National Reserve in the community of Almo. Stop in to chat with a Ranger or pick up maps, guide booklets, and other informative resources. We also offer souvenirs such as books, mugs, apparel, postcards, and stickers.

Open every day, year round. The shared Visitor Center for both City of Rocks National Reserve and Castle Rocks State Park is located in the historic town of Almo. The Visitor Center is open 7 days a week during peak season from mid-April to mid-October, and Wednesday through Sunday during the winter months. There is no fee to enter City of Rocks National Reserve.

Local Area Information - Almo, Idaho
The village of Almo was established in 1878, and remains an unincorporated community of deeply-rooted families of cattle ranching heritage.
Basic services are available in the area, such as fuel, groceries, camping supplies, restaurants, lodging, post office, and hot springs. Be sure to plan for food and supplies before your trip. When local businesses are closed, the nearest services are 30-60 miles away. Pro-tip: if local restaurants are crowded take your food to-go and enjoy your meal at one of our picnic areas.
