December 2023 Activities at Chickasaw National Recreation Area

Sulphur, Okla.– Join park rangers on Friday, December 22^nd for “Winter Tales” at the Travertine Nature Center. The Christmas Bird Count will follow on Saturday, December 30^th.

“Winter Tales” will be on Friday, December 22nd from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Travertine Nature Center. Visitors will have the chance to learn about winter constellations, learn about how cold-blooded animals survive the winter, and to make a craft to take home.

The Christmas Bird Count will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 30^th at the Travertine Nature Center. Participants will sign up as volunteers and are welcome to stay just for a few hours in the morning or to continue into the afternoon. They should come prepared to spend most of the time outdoors, no matter the weather conditions.
