Sulphur, Okla.– Buckhorn Campground and dump station at Chickasaw National Recreation Area will be closed from January 6, 2022 to March 1, 2022 while the sewer system is upgraded. Park visitors may continue to camp at either Rock Creek Campground or the Point Campground. Rock Creek Campground is located adjacent to the historic Platt District. Campsites at Rock Creek are first come, first served and are all non-electrical. The Point Campground, located by the Lake of the Arbuckles, has some campsites with electricity and water hookups that can accommodate recreational vehicles. To make reservations for the upper loop of the Point Campground visit www.recreation.gov or call 877-444-6777.
Each year park visitors enjoy camping near Chickasaw National Recreation Area’s creeks and lakes. The 10,000 acre water-based recreation area includes the former Platt National Park. The national park was enlarged and converted to Chickasaw National Recreation Area in 1976.
