With upcoming snowstorms the Utah Department of Transportation has closed Hwy 148 for the season. Although Hwy 148 is closed, the park remains open. Vehicles can access the northern side of the park, including North View Overlook, via Highway 143, which will remain open throughout the winter but may close temporarily due to weather. For up-to-date road conditions, visit the Utah Department of Transportation’s (UDOT) website or call 511 in state, or 866-511-UTAH (8824) out of state.Cedar Breaks is pleased to announce a new visitor contact station located at North View Overlook. Starting December 29th Rangers will staff this station every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 9:30am - 4:30pm, weather depending. The entrance fee is $10 per person and includes free snowshoe rentals (limited availability). Interagency or America the Beautiful passes waive this fee for parties traveling together in a single vehicle.
From this new contact station Rangers will be offering family friendly guided snowshoe tours every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 9:30am, 11:30am and 2pm starting December 29th. Visitors can register through our Event Brite snowshoe page.
Additionally, Cedar Breaks will host Darky Sky Tours every Saturday night. A program will be offered at 5:30pm and is reservation only (limited seating). Star gazing will take place from approximately 6:30pm to 8:00pm, no registration required. Visitors can register at our Event Brite Dark Sky page.
A few friendly reminders for winter recreation at Cedar Breaks. The Point Supreme Overlook remains closed due to construction. Winter users should not attempt to access the overlook or the construction site, which is marked by orange snow poles. Until more snow accumulation occurs snowmobile use is not permitted within the Monument. Additionally, skiing or snowboarding down the amphitheater of Cedar Breaks is prohibited.
