The National Park Service announces that the first piping plover nest of the season has hatched at Cape Point, resulting in the temporary closure of the area from Ramp 43 south to the tip of Cape Point.Effective Saturday, May 12, 2012, Ramp 44 is closed and ORV and pedestrian access is prohibited beyond that point.In addition, Ramp 45 and the Interdunal Road are closed to ORV and pedestrian access.Ramp 43 remains open with ORV and pedestrian access 0.4 of a mile north.
