Outer Banks national park sites conduct post-Tropical Storm Isaias safety assessments and prepare plans to resume access to parks

Outer Banks Group staff conducted post-Tropical Storm Isaias assessments this morning at Cape Hatteras National Seashore, Fort Raleigh National Historic Site, and Wright Brothers National Memorial. The assessments concluded that facilities that were open prior to the storm’s development are safe to reopen by tomorrow, August 5.

Cape Hatteras National Seashore
Campgrounds: Oregon Inlet, Cape Point, Frisco, and Ocracoke campgrounds will reopen tomorrow, August 5. Camping reservations and payments can be made at www.recreation.gov.

Beach Access Ramps: Off-road vehicle (ORV) ramps are starting to reopen. View beach access status updates at http://go.nps.gov/beachaccess. ORV permits may be purchased online at www.recreation.gov.

Fort Raleigh National Historic Site
