A project to replace the restroom facility at the Ocracoke Day Use Area was recently started by contractor APEX Construction, Inc. (Ocean City, MD). The new, fully accessible restroom facility is expected to be completed and reopened by mid-June 2019.
During the construction phase of the $349,000 project, portable restrooms will be available at the Ocracoke Day Use Area. Cape Hatteras National Seashore visitors will continue to have access to the parking lot and boardwalk.
Ocracoke Day Use Area is a popular Ocracoke Island destination because of its beautiful beach. Lifeguards patrol the beach between Memorial Day and Labor Day. (NPS Photo)
