National Park Service visitor facilities at Cape Hatteras National Seashore and the Visitor Center at Fort Raleigh National Historic Site will reopen tomorrow morning. Wright Brothers National Memorial will remain closed through the weekend.
Wright Brothers National Memorial will remain closed through the weekend due to significant ice accumulation on the parking lot and most roads and walking paths. Below freezing temperatures over the next couple days will most likely not allow for safe travel through the park.
All trails and unsafe walking paths will be closed at Fort Raleigh National Historic Site until branches and ice can be cleared.
“Although visitor facilities at Cape Hatteras National Seashore and the Visitor Center at Fort Raleigh National Historic Site are reopening tomorrow, it is important to remember that some roads in the area may still be hazardous,” said National Parks of Eastern North Carolina Superintendent David Hallac. “Please continue to use caution if you plan to visit these parks this weekend.”
