Weather forecasts indicate that there is a high likelihood that Potential Tropical Cyclone Ten may bring sustained tropical storm force winds and heavy rainfall to Cape Hatteras National Seashore (Seashore), Fort Raleigh National Historic Site, and Wright Brothers National Memorial this evening and tomorrow.

Campgrounds: Oregon Inlet, Cape Point, Frisco, and Ocracoke Campgrounds will close today at 5:00 pm. The campgrounds will reopen after park staff are able to conduct post-storm safety assessments.

Rip Currents: Swimming is not advisable while there is a high risk of rip currents. For a daily rip current forecast go to http://www.weather.gov/beach/mhx. For information on rip currents safety go to: http://www.ripcurrents.noaa.gov.

Beach Access Ramps: Beach access ramps remain open to off-road vehicles and pedestrians, but some beach routes may become impassable during both high and low tide conditions. Daily beach access ramp status updates are available on the Seashore Facebook page at http://facebook.com/capehatterasns.

Park Updates: At this time, other than Seashore campgrounds, all visitor services and facilities are expected to remain open. If visitor services need to be altered due to this severe weather event, notifications will be made through social media. Outer Banks Group social media links are listed below.

Weather Updates: For more weather-related information, listen to NOAA weather radio, local radio, and media for updates and advisories.
