San Diego, CA - On Monday May 29, 2023, Cabrillo National Monument will be open from 1:00pm until 8:00pm for the Memorial Day holiday observance.
While Cabrillo National Monument is typically open from 9:00am until 5:00pm, due to the Memorial Day ceremony at Rosecrans National Cemetery, Cabrillo National Monument's operating hours on May 29th will instead be 1:00pm until 8:00pm. The road into the park, including Catalina Blvd., Navy Base Gate Post 2, and all roads within the park will be closed all morning until ceremonies conclude at 1:00pm. This will reduce congestion and increase safety, while the event proceeds. For more information on the Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery and Memorial Day event, please visit Home | Fort Rosecrans Memorial Day or www.fortrosecransmemorialday.com
These altered operating hours will also offer visitors the rare opportunity to watch the sun set over San Diego from the lighthouse, if the weather allows, and enjoy a later evening at the park. Entry will not be permitted before 1:00pm, and all visitors will be required to leave as usual when the park and grounds close at 8:00pm. Standard operating hours of 9:00am until 5:00pm will resume the following day, on May 30, 2023.
As always, be sure to check the park website at www.nps.gov/cabr before arriving on site for current conditions, updates, and alerts.
