October not only brings cooler temperatures and changing colors to the Paunsaugunt plateau, but also annual changes to services and operations at Bryce Canyon National Park.
As always, the park remains open every day, year-round. The Visitor Center is currently open from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and transitions to winter hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 6th.
Ranger-led programs also continue to be offered all year. Information on this and other programs is detailed on the park’s Ranger Programs webpage.
For those prepared for the colder nights, a limited number of campsites will remain open all winter. Sunset Campground closes for the season on the morning of November 1st and will reopen for first-come, first-served camping on April 15th, 2023. North Campground remains open for camping by reservation until October 16th, then transitions to first-come, first-served camping for the winter. Loop A of North Campground remains open year-round, while other North Campground loops and the RV Dump Station will close when overnight temperatures drop consistently below freezing. This typically occurs by mid-to-late October. Reservations for North Campground resume on May 27th, 2023 and are available six months in advance.
The Bryce Canyon Shuttle is currently operating from 8:00 a.m. until the final bus departs the Visitor Center and exits the park at 6:30 p.m. Shuttle service will continue through Sunday, October 23rd and resumes in April 2023.
Concession lodging and food services will continue to serve park visitors for most of the fall season. Lodging within the park remains available until Sunday, November 27th. On Monday, November 28th, the Lodge at Bryce Canyon will offer breakfast service before closing at 11 a.m. The General Store and both its laundry and shower services will close for the season at 5 p.m. on Monday, November 28th. Concession facilities will resume operations in the spring of 2023. Visit www.brycecanyonforever.com or call 877-386-4383 for park lodging rates and availability.
The final day for horseback and mule rides operated by Canyon Trail Rides will be October 31st unless weather dictates an earlier closing. Canyon Trail Rides will resume operations on May 1, 2023 or earlier if trail conditions permit. Visit www.canyonrides.com or call 435-679-8665 for more information. October 31st will also be the last day for private horse riding.
We hope visitors to Bryce Canyon National Park will enjoy their autumn and winter experiences in the park. As winter weather approaches, it becomes especially important for our visitors to Plan Like a Park Ranger and stay up-to-date with park operations by visiting www.nps.gov/brca, following the park’s social media channels, or by calling the park’s information line at (435) 834-5322.
