HOMESTEAD, Fla. --- On January 20, 2018, at 7 p.m., Biscayne National Park is hosting its first story slam and the theme is “water.” Storytellers share true, personal, five to seven minute stories about encounters with water; salt or fresh, frozen or falling, flowing or still, floating on top or diving below. The stories will be professionally judged and cash prizes awarded. Hosting the event is Gabriela Fernandez of the Moth in Miami.

Storytellers are needed. Those wishing to be considered for participation should contact park ranger Gary Bremen at e-mail us or 305-230-1144 x007.

The story slam is supported by the South Florida National Parks Trust through grants from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, the Knight Arts Challenge and the Guerra Family Foundation.
