HOMESTEAD, Fla. ---In cooperation with US Citizenship and Immigration Services, Biscayne National Park will host a ceremony welcoming 20 new citizens on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at 10:30 am. The ceremony coincides with the 99th birthday of the National Park Service and the countdown to the organization’s Centennial to be celebrated throughout 2016. The ceremony will take place in the auditorium of the Dante Fascell Visitor Center, 9700 SW 328 Street, 9 miles east of Homestead. The public is invited to witness this stirring ceremony.

“National Parks speak to who we are as a nation and as a people,” said Biscayne National Park Superintendent Brian Carlstrom. “It is entirely fitting that the place where people take the oath of citizenship be one of the icons of their new country.”

Biscayne National Park, the largest marine park in the National Park System, has been partnering with the Kendall Field Office of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services for several years to welcome new citizens in a place that they now own. From Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon and the Great Smoky Mountains, to the Statue of Liberty, Mount Rushmore and the birth home of Martin Luther King, Jr, America’s 408 national parks protect America’s most beautiful and historic places for the education, inspiration and enjoyment of this and future generations.
