On Thursday, June 5, 2008, Big Bend National Park authorities received a visitor report through 911 of a body off the side of the Old Ore Road, an isolated dirt road located in the northeast portion of the park.  Park Rangers and Border Patrol Agents responded to the reported location and confirmed the report.

The body is that of a Hispanic male believed to be between the ages of 25-35 years, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall, and weighing approximately 130 pounds.  He had short black hair, a mustache, and a small goatee.  He wore Wrangler blue jeans and a tan t-shirt with a blue-checkered collar.  There was no identification found and it is believed the deceased could be a Mexican national.

The body was transported to El Paso for an autopsy, and an attempt at identification will be made.  Because of the possibility that the individual was a citizen of Mexico, park officials are in contact with the Mexican Consulate.
