On September 24, 2013, a search and rescue was conducted for David W. Busch, 57, of Dripping Springs, Texas. David had been hiking on the Oak Springs Trail when he began feeling nauseous, sat down, and stopped breathing. David's hiking partner hiked out to get help, and a full search and rescue team of Park Rangers and U.S. Border Patrol agents responded. An initial search was conducted to find the exact location, which was not known. The rescue team located Mr. Busch at the top of Oak Springs Trail one hour later. Resuscitation efforts proved unsuccessful and Mr. Busch was declared deceased. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death. "We are truly saddened by this tragic death," stated Superintendent Cindy Ott-Jones, "and offer our condolences to the Busch family and friends." |
