Notes: He was slender and swarthy with black hair and eyes. He took the Franciscan habit on 21 February 1801 in the Convento de Santa María de los Ángeles de Jesús in Palma, Mallorca. He sailed for the overseas missions in November, 1812, and came to the College of Querétaro. He first arrived at Tubac in November of 1820, a member of the notorious mission of 1810-1813. He went to Magdalena in May 1819 before he came to Tubac/Tumacácori. He left Tumacácori in May 1822, due to scandal (living with an Indian woman), and lived at the Caborca visita of Busanic. From there he went to the Presidio of Santa Cruz, then to Sáric, and then affiliated himself with the Jalisco Province and continued his ministry at Matape, Horcasitas, Bacadeguachi, and Guesavas in east central Sonora. He had decided to finish the Franciscan church at Tumacácori by whatever means necessary, but had to leave because of the scandals of his living arrangements. |
