Greeneville, TN –

Presidential proclamation established Andrew Johnson National Monument on April 27, 1942 during the midst of WWII. In 1963, with the purchase of the Early Home belonging to Andrew Johnson, the park expanded, and Congress redesignated it to be the Andrew Johnson National Historic Site as it is known today.

To celebrate eighty years, the National Park Service staff invites the community to a reception from Noon to 2PM on Wednesday April 27, 2022. The reception will be held in the back yard of the president’s home located at 209 South Main Street.

Former employees of the Andrew Johnson National Historic Site are invited to join the festivities.
