Greeneville, TN –Saturday, December 18, the public is invited to the annual Wreaths Across America Ceremony.to honor and remember the men and women who have bravely served our county’s armed forces. The National Park Service will host this free ceremony at Andrew Johnson National Cemetery, beginning at 11:30 am.
Remarks will be offered by Representative David Hawk of Tennessee’s 5th District, and Grady Barefield, Chaplain of the Greene County Honor Guard. The featured speaker is Robert E. Joyce, Jr., CEO, Forensic Engineering Services. Colors will be presented by the Greene County Veterans Association Honor Guard and the Sons of American Revolution. Additional ceremony honor guards will be provided courtesy of the Greeneville High School JROTC and Greene County Air Force JROTC Cadets. The national anthem will be performed by representatives of the Greeneville Theater Guild.
This year through the generous support from the Andrew Johnson Heritage Association, TEVET and community members, donations were made to ensure that all of the graves in the National Cemetery will have a wreath.
General parking for the ceremony will be at Hal Henard Elementary School, 425 E. Vann Road. Free shuttle service provided by Premier Transportation of Greeneville to the cemetery will begin at 10:00 am and resume after the ceremony. Limited disabled parking will be available at the National Cemetery with overflow parking onto Monument Avenue. Seating will be available inside a tent for attendees. The Andrew Johnson National Historic Site Visitor Center will be closed from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm to accommodate this event.
