Friday, December 1, staff at Andrew Johnson National Historic Site will open the historic Andrew Johnson Homestead, located at 209 South Main Street, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm for the annual free Holiday Open House.
Jump-start your holiday season with a visit to your national park. The Andrew Johnson Homestead will be decorated in authentic Victorian Holiday décor. This year, staff will be offering three short interpretive talks for attendees around a toasty campfire. Beginning at 6:30 pm, staff will present a program entitled “The Humor and Wit of Andrew Johnson,” followed at 7:00 pm by “The Disease that Consumed the Johnson Family,” and third at 7:30 pm “What is Figgy Pudding?”
Light refreshments – cookies and hot apple cider – will be provided by the Andrew Johnson Heritage Association while supplies last. Kids are invited to make their own special holiday card or ornament at the kid’s crafts table.
Come visit the home of our 17th President on a beautiful Friday evening in December. This year’s event, made possible with support from the Andrew Johnson Heritage Association, will take you back in time for cheerful Victorian-era Holiday. You don’t want to miss this holiday program.
