News Release Date: September 18, 2009 Zion National Park will offer its annual Fee Free Day on Saturday, September 26, 2009, in observance of National Public Lands Day. On that day, the National Park Service will join the other Department of the Interior bureaus; U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service; and Utah State Parks to waive entrance fees including commercial tour entrance fees and transportation entrance fees. “We would like to invite all of our neighbors to take advantage of this day to reacquaint themselves with their local national park,” said Superintendent Jock Whitworth. As part of America’s public lands, Zion National Park offers opportunities to experience an incredible display of natural and cultural history and provides outstanding opportunities for hiking, sightseeing, and renewal of the human spirit. A Public Lands Day volunteer project will be a cleanup of South Campground and the Pa’rus Trail including picking up trash and cleaning fire pits. Persons willing to volunteer for this project must contact Adrienne Fitzgerald, Volunteer Coordinator, at 435-772-0184 by Friday, September 25. Visitors entering Zion National Park on Saturday, September 26, will receive a non-transferable, park pass for the day of entry only. Tunnel escort fees, camping fees, and backcountry permit fees will remain in effect. Visitors will be able to purchase annual and lifetime passes.
