Yosemite National Park invites the public to participate in an event on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 to learn about scientific findings related to wilderness use and planning. The event will take place at the Garden Terrace room at Yosemite Valley Lodge from 9:30 am to 4 pm. Staff from the National Park Service (NPS) and the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) will share and discuss a series of scientific studies that examined visitor capacity and stock use in wilderness areas.

Scientific information from multiple studies, including research methodology and preliminary findings, will be presented. Staff will be available to answer questions on their methods and research. This information will inform the development of the park’s Wilderness Stewardship Plan and the environmental analysis accompanying it.

More information on the Wilderness Stewardship Plan is available online at  https://www.nps.gov/yose/getinvolved/wsp_documents.htm. In addition, it will be broadcast live using Webex. Please see that your computer has the Webex program before the event begins. Join us online at https://yose.webex.com/yose/onstage/g.php?MTID=e1c7db01d8fa5be5cc1b96983cf1db814. The online broadcast will not be interactive, but follow up questions can be submitted to Recreational Planner, Heather Bromberg at e-mail us.

Yosemite National Park is committed to providing accurate and up to date information on the science that informs the park’s decision making. We welcome and appreciate questions and feedback, and the public’s continued involvement in the planning for Yosemite’s Wilderness. Please join us on November 2 to help participate in this important process.
