Open House Tomorrow, November 28

Join us on Wednesday, November 28, from 1-4 pm in the Yosemite Valley Auditorium for the last open house of 2012. Doors open at 1 pm with a special presentation by the park forester starting at 2 pm.

On the night of November 30-December 1, 2011, a wind storm swept through the Sierra Nevada blowing down thousands of trees and impacting trails, roads, and structures. Yosemite National Park Forester Brian Mattos will talk about the widespread effects of the storm and how it compares to other forest disturbances.

Additionally, park staff will be on hand to provide informal updates on the status of park projects and plans. As always, entrance fees are waived for those attending the open house.

Update on the Merced River Plan

Yosemite National Park is in the final writing and production stages of the draft environmental impact statement for the Merced River Plan. We are currently seeking permission to print and distribute the documents, likely before the first of the year. We will mail hard copies or CDs of the plan to everyone who pre-ordered them this summer. If you did not pre-order a copy you will be able to access the document on-line, along with conceptual site drawings and outreach materials. We look forward to sharing our work with you.
