Next Open House December 8

The next Yosemite open house will be held on December 8 from 1-4 pm in the auditorium behind the Yosemite Valley visitor center. Project managers will be on hand to provide updates on the Invasive Plant Management Plan Update, the 2011 interim permit system for Half Dome, and the Merced Wild and Scenic River Comprehensive Management Plan.

Merced River Plan Update

The stage of developing "outstandingly remarkable values" are now complete and the condition assessment is underway. The park staff will host a series of project alternative development concepts in January, 2011. Tentative dates are January 13, 14 and 22. More information will be provided in advance of these dates. Yosemite's planning staff will be available at the open house on December 8 to discuss ongoing development of the Merced Wild and Scenic River Comprehensive Management Plan (MRP).

Yosemite Forum to Focus on MRP Related Research

A "Special Edition" of the Yosemite Forum is scheduled Friday, December 3, 2010, in the Garden Terrace at the Yosemite Lodge. Park scientists will speak to the ongoing research that is being conducted to develop a better understanding of issues that should be addressed by the Merced River Wild and Scenic River Plan: physical science, biology, cultural resources and visitor use. The forum will begin at 9:00 A.M. and conclude by 2:00 P.M., with a 50-minute lunch break.
