Dog Rock Fire

October 07, 2014 Posted by: Yosemite Fire Information
The  Dog Rock Fire began this afternoon at Dog Rock on the El Portal Road between the park boundary and Arch Rock Entrance Station. The fire was reported around 2:45 this afternoon and is approximately 130 acres. Fire crews and aircraft are on scene and responding to the fire. The community of Foresta has been evacuated. El Portal Road is temporarily closed to all through traffic from the park boundary near Yosemite View Lodge from the west and at the junction of the El Portal and Big Oak Flat Roads from the east. We don't anticipate the road opening within the next few hours (as of 4:15 pm on October 7, 2014).
