VIENNA, Va. – The final curtain has closed on the 2019 summer concert series, but there is more to explore at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts this fall! In addition to two performing arts venues, the park is home to forested hiking trails, a lively creek and many plant and wildlife species. Join a park ranger on Saturday, Oct. 19 and Sunday, Oct. 27 from 10-11:30 a.m. for a guided autumn hike on the Wolf Trap trails.
On this 2 mile hike, you will learn about Virginia’s forest ecology, the science behind changing leaf colors and the history of the park. Each fall foliage hike will begin at 10 a.m. from the Ranger Station, located to the left of the main gate of the Filene Center. Parking is free and available in any lot in the park. Northern Virginia weather is unpredictable at this time of year, so be sure to dress according, bring plenty of water and don’t forget your walking shoes!
Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts is open to the public year-round and offers opportunities to walk, hike, run and picnic in a serene, natural environment. The park is free of charge and open every day from sunrise to sunset. The Ranger Station is staffed Sunday through Monday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Park rangers are available to answer questions, stamp your passport books and swear in new Junior Rangers.
