The 6 for 60 Stewardship Challenge

Whiskeytown National Recreation Area turns 60 years old in 2025. To celebrate this milestone and to ensure the park is doing well for 60 more years and beyond, we need conservationists and park stewards.

Become a park steward by completing at least six of the tasks in bold below or by grabbing a hard copy of the Stewardship Challenge at the Visitor Center. Once you complete at least six activities, turn in the worksheet or your own piece of paper to the Visitor Center and the first 100 to do so will receive several prizes – a certificate of achievement signed by Park Superintendent Josh Hoines, a booklet spotlighting the nature and history of Whiskeytown, a park coloring book, and a National Park System map.

Optional: once you complete at least 6 activities, email us a photo of yourself in the park and we will give you a shoutout on Facebook and Instagram. Email us at WHIS_Information@nps.gov.

Happy Stewarding and please email us with any questions you have at WHIS_Information@nps.gov.

Finally, sketch your own memorial. It could be a memorial for one of your heroes, a lost loved one, or even a historic event. Be creative and have fun.
