INTERNATIONAL FALLS, MN: Voyageurs National Park staff have completed work to extend the Oberholtzer Trail by approximately 0.2 miles. This short extension increases connectivity to nearby trails, creating a variety of looping hike opportunities. The Oberholtzer Trail now connects with the Tilson Creek Trail network, via the Tilson Connector Trail, and to the Rainy Lake Recreation Trail.

This new section of trail begins at the westernmost loop of the existing Oberholtzer trail and will allow hikers and snowshoers the option to complete a full loop back to the Rainy Lake Visitor Center. The network of trails through Voyageurs National Park’s boreal forest bypasses wetlands to make them accessible year-round. The Tilson Connector Trail is a cross country ski route in the winter, and portions may be wet during certain times of the hiking season depending on local rain conditions.
