Mahalo (thank you) for your interest in covering the 80th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, a cooperative event supported by the National Park Service, the US Navy, and Pacific Historic Parks. The goal of the events is to ensure that future generations will understand the valor and legacy of those who perished in the December 7, 194l attack, and those who were caught in the crossfire - our U.S. Military members present that fateful day, civilians, and those who served throughout World War II.

Media who are planning to cover the commemorative events must fill out the credential request form. All the day’s events will be live streamed and there may be some limited opportunities for media coverage. Submission of a credential form does not guarantee access to the ceremonies. For your safety and the safety of our veterans, event organizers are monitoring the coronavirus situation and will continue to assess the impacts to the 80th National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day commemorative events. Your continued flexibility is appreciated.

How to Request CredentialsComplete this form by 5 p.m. HST, October 31, 2021. Submitting a credential form does not guarantee access, and those who do receive access will receive details with their confirmation. Additional information may be requested by Joint Base Pearl Harbor-HIckam Security Forces.

Other Considerations:

  • Pool Video will be freely provided by Defense Media Activity (DMA) and Pool Photography will be freely provided by Pacific Historic Parks on behalf of the National Park Service (NPS).

  • Parking will be limited.

  • Due to limited space at event sites and in Military sponsored vehicles, all media outlets and representatives may only bring what you can carry. Crew size may also be limited.

  • For events on Active-Duty Military Installations (Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Ford Island) all credentialled media will be escorted in Department of Defense (DoD) provided vehicles with military escorts. All bags and equipment will be subject to screening and approval by Joint Base Security Forces.

  • For events on National Park Service (NPS) property, restricted bag policies will apply. All bags are subject to inspection and approval by NPS Security Rangers.

  • Pearl Harbor National Memorial will facilitate media access to the USS Arizona, Oklahoma, and Utah Memorials only on the two designated dates and times noted in the credential request form

  • If your request exceeds the official events opportunities or does not meet the threshold for NPS low-impact filming, you must apply for a special use permit. Allow at least 10 days for review and approval. Please note, a request is just a request until confirmed by NPS staff. Review the Pearl Harbor National Memorial Special Park Use considerations online: https://www.nps.gov/perl/planyourvisit/permits.htm
