Roebling Bridge reopened to vehicular traffic at 3:20 pm today. Federal Highway Administration engineers spent the day pouring over the historic Roebling Bridge and declared her safe for vehicular traffic. “We are relieved, but not necessarily surprised,” said Superintendent Dave Forney of the Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River. “The Roebling Bridge has withstood the elements for a very long time. Obviously, John Roebling knew what to expect of the Delaware”. While crossing the Delaware from Minisink Ford to Lackawaxen is now possible, travelers are reminded that Zane Grey House did not fare as well, and continues to be closed until further notice. -nps- |
