The V Bar V Heritage Site, run by the Coconino National Forest, is the largest known petroglyph site in the Verde Valley, as well as being oneof the best-preserved. Plus, they're very close to Montezuma Well!

Fort Verde
Experience life through the eyes of a frontier soldier at Fort Verde State Historic Park. The fort was a base for General Crook's U.S. Army scouts and soldiers in the 1870s and 1880s. Dr. Mearns, the fort's surgeon, made some of the first extensive excavations at Montezuma Castle.
