National Park Service News ReleaseFor Immediate Release – Jan 12th, 2017 Krystina Isaac, Park Ranger, MOCA/TUZI, 928-567-3322 x 223 Clarkdale, AZ – Tuzigoot National Monument POLAR BEAR STAR PARTY AT TUZIGOOT NATIONAL MONUMENTJoin us Saturday, January 28th at Tuzigoot National Monument for a celebration of archeology and the night sky. Because the sky turns dark early and there is no heat distortion, winter is the best season for star gazing. We encourage visitors to dress for cold weather. Visitors are also welcome to bring their own mugs so they may enjoy free hot chocolate and hot apple cider! Our evening will begin at 6:00 pm with a presentation on archaeoastronomy. Children of all ages will have the opportunity to earn a Tuzigoot Junior Astronomer Badge by completing an activity book filled with fun facts about the night sky. This program will be offered from 6:30pm - 8:00pm. This program counts towards a Night Sky Scout Patch, so Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts are encouraged to attend. The Astronomers of the Verde Valley will also have several telescopes set up for night sky viewing. Open viewing will be from 6 pm to 8:30 pm. We recommend that you bring a flashlight that has a red filter to make it easier for your eyes to adjust to the dark. Closed toed shoes an water are also recommended. This event is FREE! Tuzigoot National Monument is located at 25 W Tuzigoot Rd, Clakdale, AZ 86324. For more information, please call 928-634-5564 or visit www.nps.gov/tuzi.
