What Happened to the Timucuan People?

Disease brought by European colonists greatly impacted the Timucua. Slavery, and war also had a devastating impact. As Timucua contact with Europeans increased, so did their contact with deadly European diseases like smallpox. Some Timucua were taken to Cuba, while others integrated themselves into other indigenous groups, such as the Seminole. Currently historians are trying to figure out if any descendants of the Timucua exist in Cuba.
