Thomas Stone National Historic Site is the only National Park Service site dedicated to a Signer of the Declaration of Independence. It is one of four signers' homes protected as national parks. The park is situated in historic Southern Maryland, within an easy drive from Washington, D.C. The first capital of Maryland in St. Mary's City is a short drive to the southeast and the current capital, Annapolis, is a short drive to the northeast.
