Theodore Roosevelt National Park to Waive Fees on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

MEDORA, ND: Begin a new year with a visit to Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Entrance and camping fees will be waived for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day holiday on Monday, January 18.

"Winter is a magical and quiet time to visit the park," said Chief of Interpretation Eileen Andes. "Wildlife watching is spectacular as are opportunities for photography, especially with snow sparkling on the badlands. The park is beautiful right now."

The two other national park units in North Dakota –Fort Union Trading Post National Historic Site near Williston and Knife River Indian Villages National Historic Site near Stanton –are among the more than 200 national parks that never charge entrance fees.

The National Park Service will waive entrance fees on 15 other days in 2016, including National Park Week, April 16 through 24;National Park Service Centennial Weekend, August 25 through 28;National Public Lands Day on September 24;and Veterans Day on November 11.
