Liberty Island is a 12.7 acre island located in the Upper Bay of New York Harbor. The closest body of land is Ellis Island to the north. New Jersey is to the west and Manhattan Island, New York City is to the east. The public is brought to Liberty Island by concessionaire boats leaving Battery Park, Manhattan in New York City and Liberty State Park in New Jersey.
Statue of Liberty National Monument and Ellis Island employs a diverse staff among several divisions, including the Office of the Superintendent and Divisions of: Administration; Facility Management and Maintenance Operations; Safety and Emergency Medical Services; Interpretation, Education and Visitor Services; Museum Services; Concession Management; and Professional Services and Project Management.
