In the Park & Surrounding Area

Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is surrounds smaller towns including Empire and Glen Arbor, and driving distance from Traverse City. Within the park, there are two campgrounds. Platte River Campground, located in the southern end of the park provides a variety of camping opportunities from electrical hook-ups to walk-in, tent only sites. DH Day Campground is a rustic or primitive campground that is open seasonally. Additionally, the Sleeping Bear Inn offers accommodations for the night in historic Glen Haven.
